Yo! This is the my latest video for the 2nd single off #TheBlackVelvetEP called ‘NO LOBSTER‘. We randomly decided to shoot this video one chilly night on Georgia Avenue in the heart of Uptown DC. I directed & edited the video, my homies Trei & Nate G. looked out on the camera work, & my girl Mi$fit Marti helped me flesh out the idea as we were shooting. Big shouts to her, my homegirl D, & My homegirl Hannah who helped make the video that much flyer. Peep the visuals & if you haven’t heard The Album yet, check it out below along with The Chopped & Screwed Version!
This is the first official video of #TheBlackVelvetEP that BAZE & I recently dropped. This video was directed by Yours Truly & my homie P-Weezy aka Wayne is Wayne. We shot the video in a day, & was probably the chillest video shoot ever. Shouts to my girls Mi$fit & Erica for being al extra gorgeous in the video, too.
Got to meet the homie A$AP Rocky a couple nights ago at his show with ScHoolboy Q. I’d met ScHoolboy a couple months ago at SXSW but, it was my 1st time linking with Rocky & the rest of the A$AP Mob. Needless to say, they were all pretty chill/trill. This is the video for Rocky’s single “GOLDIE” off his upcoming album. The visuals were directed by Rocky & partially shot in France. The video’s pretty beast & him & Yams swag quite heavily. Peepeth.
I was recently hipped to Miss Emily King by a good friend of mine & as soon as I heard her I fell completely in love. Her voice is incredible, not to mention combined with how gorgeous she is, it’s understandable how I’d end up at this conclusion. Upon playing the first record “Down” from her latest work “The Seven EP” and I was sold. It’s a remarkable piece of music & is hopefully a sign of what’s to come not only for Ms. King but, music in general. I hope we can all ride whatever wave of creativity she’s found. Peep the entire EP down below.
First & foremost, Aaliyah was one of the last great female performers & songstresses of our time. She was the complete package; sgorgeous with one of the sweetest voices ever, a dope actress & model, but more than anything, she gave off a beautiful energy. Aaliyah was the last female R&B artist who displayed a true love, respect & understanding for her man. Listen to songs like “I Care 4 U” & you see a woman who’s talking directly to her man & not at or down to him. Most Female R&B singers are either claiming independence, how all men are dogs, or just being overtly sexual. Aaliyah was a man’s woman & a prime example as to how women should be. When she passed, it was before the 1st day of my 8th grade yea I believe & I remember everyone being really sad the next day. She was one of the celebrity passings that really took a toll because I think people really got a sense of knowing her & relating. Honestly, I don’t even think a lot of R&B/Pop stars would have careers today had Aaliyah still been around. Her career was the prototype for most of what we see now. As a kid, her tracks were what I would bump when I had a crush on a girl lol. She’s to the Pop industry what Michael Jordan was to basketball. Aaliyah, you’ll be forever missed, thanks for sharing that bit of time with us, it was love, just wish it could’ve lasted longer. Rest in Paradise.
Peep my Aaliyah Playlist. All of these were jams as a kid, yo.
I’ve literally been in love with Jurnee Smollett since I was 8 years old. I think I 1st saw her on an Episode of Cosby & was smitten ever since. Besides the fact that she’s gorgeous, I really dig the roles she chooses, & her talent as an actress is undeniable. She was my crush for a while but, I hadn’t really seen her again until she played a role in the Denzel Washington-directed/Oprah Winfrey-produced film “The Great Debaters“. She’s stunningly beautiful & immensely talented which is exactly why she’s one of the Girls I Like.
I first got word of Ms. Aoki around ’02-’03 when 2 Fast 2 Furious was coming out. I saw her in the trailer & was absolutely blown away by her beauty. Before the movie came out Devon was my computer’s wallpaper (along with the car she drove in the movie ’cause I’m a complete gearhead). Devon was discovered at 13, became a professional model at 14 & replaced Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace at 16. Davon Aoki’s beauty is unique & timeless. For those reasons & more she is one of the Girls I Like.
I first got word of Nneka around late ’09 & was absolutely blown away by her musicality & politically/socially charged lyrics. She is of Nigerian & German descent, her father being Igbo Nigerian & her mother being German. She garnered attention during her stint as an opening act for Sean Paul.
Besides being incredibly talented & socially conscious, she’s also very cute, clearly. Which is precisely why she’s one of the GIRLS I LIKE.
So, I’ve been in love with Zoe Kravitz since I was like 14. C’mon sun, she’s Lisa Bonet & Lenny Kravitz’s daughter. I’m not sure if you know this but Lisa Bonet is one of the most profoundly beautiful women to have ever graced the planet & Lenny Kravitz is crazy talented & just oozes cool. Needless to say, they created a goddess of a daughter.
Besides being gorgeous, she’s an incredible actress, model, & leading lady of the Philly/NY based band called “Elevator Fight”. She also had a recent role in the latest X-Men film “First Class”.
Although she’s stunning & talented, she just seems really cool & creative which is why she’s one of the GIRLS I LIKE.
